Specialist Anthony Vargas
Anthony married Luisa Montero in July 2001 and they later had three children. In 2008, Anthony joined the Army and did his basic training and infantry training at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Specialist Vargas served as a radio telephone operator assigned to the 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
In August, 2010 Specialist Vargas was deployed to Afghanistan. Then, on November 7, 2010, while on patrol in Nangarhar Province in eastern Afghanistan, an IED detonated under the vehicle Anthony was driving, killing him instantly.
Anthony is survived by his wife Luisa and their three children, Nate, Lucas and Olivia, who live in Carthage, Tennessee.
